Prenatal
During the prenatal visits we cover many topics. I tailor the visits to your specific need but some of the topics we may cover are
- Past experiences
- Worries and fears
- What makes you feel empowered or valued
- We go over how to make a birth plan and I help you in areas you need help
- What your birth goals are
- Comfort techniques
- Coping techniques
- When to call the Doula
- Medical interventions that are common in labor if issues arise
- Things you can do to be in control of your birthing experience
- Go over different birthing positions
- Breastfeeding, bottle feeding, pumping
The labor and birth
Having a doula present looks different for every person. Some of the things I may do during labor and birth are
- Guide your birthing partner (if you have one) to help you with comfort or coping strategies
- Uplift and encourage you
- Advocate for you (Without speaking for you)
- Help you with coping and comforting measures
- Listen to you
- Offer birthing position suggestions
- Listen to your needs
Postpartum visits for birth package
Postpartum is a big journey. The postpartum visits with the birth package occur within the first six weeks after baby is born.
For the first visit (2 hrs)
- I require AT LEAST 30 minutes talking about the birth, how you are feeling, and your current needs and possible future needs.
- Light house work like laundry and dishes
- Holding baby (only if you are comfortable) while you tend to your own needs
- Light errands
- Meal prepping/cooking
- Playing with other children
If you have another idea I am open to considering it
For the second visit (1 hr)
